Pendant des d\u00e9cennies, Elisabeth a \u00e9t\u00e9 l'une des pionni\u00e8res les plus importantes et influentes du travail de Sogyal Rinpoch\u00e9 et de Rigpa en Allemagne et au-del\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elle a rencontr\u00e9 Rinpoch\u00e9 en 1986 et a ensuite particip\u00e9 \u00e0 chaque retraite Rigpa en Europe avec son d\u00e9funt mari, Heinz Nowotny. Tous deux se sont consacr\u00e9s avec enthousiasme \u00e0 l'\u00e9tude et \u00e0 la pratique, utilisant principalement leurs propres notes des enseignements et les enregistrements audio disponibles \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gr\u00e2ce aux fr\u00e9quents engagements d'enseignement de Sogyal Rinpoch\u00e9 en Allemagne et aux retraites d'hiver annuelles \u00e0 Kirchheim, la sangha allemande s'est d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e rapidement. \u00c0 la demande de Rinpoch\u00e9, Elisabeth a donc commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 offrir des soir\u00e9es r\u00e9guli\u00e8res d'\u00e9tude et de pratique \u00e0 Munich plusieurs ann\u00e9es avant la publication du livre, avec Tom Geist, le d\u00e9funt traducteur du livre Le Livre tib\u00e9tain de la vie et de la mort<\/em> (TBLD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
En 1992, Elisabeth a \u00e9galement particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre retraite de trois mois \u00e0 Lerab Ling. Vers la fin de cette retraite, les premi\u00e8res mesures ont \u00e9t\u00e9 prises pour d\u00e9velopper un programme de formation d'enseignants, car Rinpoch\u00e9 avait pr\u00e9vu que le livre TBLD<\/em> susciterait un int\u00e9r\u00eat public croissant pour les enseignements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
C'est exactement ce qui s'est pass\u00e9 en Allemagne lorsque le livre a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9 en 1993. Comme il y avait un besoin au sein de la Sangha d'instructeurs qualifi\u00e9s capables d'enseigner authentiquement les enseignements dans divers lieux et centres, Elisabeth, en collaboration avec Rigpa International et le d\u00e9funt Tom Geist, a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper, \u00e9tablir et diriger un programme de formation d'instructeurs r\u00e9gulier et bien structur\u00e9. Elle a plus tard consid\u00e9r\u00e9 cela comme son h\u00e9ritage personnel \u00e0 la Sangha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Comme le dit le proverbe : Derri\u00e8re chaque femme forte se tient un homme fort. Ce qu'Elisabeth a accompli si merveilleusement n'aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 possible sans le soutien d\u00e9sint\u00e9ress\u00e9 de son mari aimant Heinz, qui prenait soin d'elle, surtout lorsque sa mobilit\u00e9 physique a d\u00e9clin\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elisabeth \u00e9tait, d'une part, in\u00e9branlablement d\u00e9vou\u00e9e \u00e0 Sogyal Rinpoch\u00e9 et \u00e0 ses enseignements, et d'autre part, li\u00e9e \u00e0 la Sangha avec un d\u00e9vouement incommensurable. Quand je pense \u00e0 Elisabeth, je pense \u00e0 la s\u0153ur de Dharma bien-aim\u00e9e, mais aussi \u00e0 l'enseignante et \u00e0 l'amie spirituelle qu'elle \u00e9tait pour tant d'entre nous. Pleine de joie et d'enthousiasme, et avec une \u00e9nergie d\u00e9bordante. Elle \u00e9tait la \u2018Grande Dame\u2019 et la pionni\u00e8re de Rigpa Allemagne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tr\u00e8s peu de temps apr\u00e8s avoir rencontr\u00e9 Sogyal Rinpoch\u00e9, avec un esprit de renoncement remarquable, elle a laiss\u00e9 derri\u00e8re elle sa vie r\u00e9ussie mais samsarique et s'est enti\u00e8rement consacr\u00e9e aux enseignements du Dharma du Bouddha et \u00e0 Rigpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elle aimait profond\u00e9ment les gens \u2013 c'\u00e9tait s\u00fbrement l'une de ses qualit\u00e9s les plus remarquables. Je me souviens si bien de sa curiosit\u00e9 presque insatiable, avec laquelle elle essayait de d\u00e9couvrir qui \u00e9tait la personne avec qui elle se trouvait, ce dont elle ou il avait besoin, et comment le pr\u00e9cieux Dharma pouvait \u00eatre transmis d'une mani\u00e8re qui r\u00e9ponde \u00e0 ces besoins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a truly wonderful way, this energy flowed not only into her work as a teacher or into the development of the instructor training, but also into the support and guidance she gave us \u2018trainees\u2019. Unforgettable are the long nights in the sauna, talking to identify and break through confusion or blockages, or over a beer in the pub to solve a problem. Or simply to celebrate being together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She lived \u2018Passion for Compassion\u2019 in every moment. A part of you will live on in those of us who had the privilege of meeting you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elisabeth, a pioneer from the very beginning, one of the few who attended Sogyal Rinpoche\u2019s summer retreat in the Pyrenees as early as the summer before the first Kirchheim retreat in 1986\u2026 A pioneer, a great practitioner, a determined teacher\u2026 and as she herself said recently: \u201cMy legacy, I believe, is the instructor training.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of you may not have had the chance to meet her, but I think her photo radiates her strength and joy! Perhaps there will soon be a moment to share our shared stories \u2014 I can picture her right now in Kirchheim, late in the evening, selecting suitable video clips for the next day\u2026 or with her husband Heinz at Lerab Ling\u2026. May her wish for enlightenment for the benefit of all come true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our wonderful Elisabeth Nowotny passed away last night on her 80th birthday. I have known Elisabeth since 1990, and she built up the German instructors\u2019 sangha with so much love and dedication, guiding it with her love and care. She always saw and embodied Sogyal Rinpoche as her great protector and master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She sometimes said that she felt and visualized Sogyal Rinpoche behind her, and how he strengthened and held her. Together with her husband Heinz, she has dedicated herself to this path since the mid-1980s; they were together in Prapoutel, at the first Dzogchen retreat in 1992 at Lerab Ling, and they participated in the three-year retreat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has received teachings and empowerments from all the great masters of our lineage, such as Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche, Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigme Puntsok Rinpoche, Trulshik Rinpoche, Yangthang Rinpoche, Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche, Khandro Tsering Ch\u00f6dr\u00f6n, Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, and many, many other masters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is most certainly in the hearts of Guru Rinpoche, Sogyal Rinpoche, and Amitabha. Please direct your practice and heartfelt prayers toward Elisabeth Nowotny, that she may have a peaceful journey through the bardo. Thank you for everything, Elisabeth. We love you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elisabeth was always interested in the big picture and wanted to contribute to Rinpoche\u2019s international vision, as well as working so hard for Germany. From 1995\u20132000 she was an active member of the international Curriculum Team headed up by Bert van Baar and responsible for the Streams Programme. Her input and hard work were invaluable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 1995\u20131998 she was one of the national study and practice directors who made up the Lerab Ling Retreat Team \u2014 seeing to the running of the retreats at every level and often caring for a group at the same time. These were special retreats where the retreat team was in training with Rinpoche to take back his training to their respective countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She attended several international teacher training retreats with me (and sometimes Ian Maxwell) and was always serious and committed about reproducing the trainings nationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
