Guru Rinpoche appears on the hilltop at Lerab Ling

In 2022, following the passing of Sogyal Rinpoche’s mother, Mayum Tsering Wangmo, Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche advised that a statue of Guru Rinpoche be built on the hilltop in Lerab Ling. He recommended that this statue, facing the temple, be constructed with the aspiration to fulfil all of Mayum-la’s wishes, to benefit Lerab Ling, and to accumulate merit.

Just a few weeks ago, during his visit in September, Tulku Rigdzin Pema Rinpoche filled the statue with zung (sacred mantra scrolls), which had been carefully prepared by the Lerab Ling community under his guidance. The statue was then sealed and painted and a rabné was auspiciously performed by Kyabjé Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Tulku Rigdzin Pema Rinpoche.

Looking ahead, in early 2026 the statue will be gold-leafed and a protective metal pagoda roof will be constructed above it.

This sacred project has been made possible through the generosity of many sangha members. If you would like to support the completion of the statue, you can make a donation.
